Childhood Summer Holiday
Bob Scott on 24 August 2009
My first exposure to John Smedley came as a fresh faced 5 year old when my parents took me to the factory during a summer holiday spent in Bakewell.
At the time (early 80’s) my Mam was rather pessimistic about the chances of the factory surviving much longer so it always gives her pleasure to see me kitted out in my many jumpers and to see the brand firmly established as an English institution. It’s also a case of history repeating as I’m currently planning my own family camping trip to the Peak District, primarily so I can make a return trip to the factory shop.
