Shooting Stars and A Midnight Blue Sweater

I can’t remember where I heard about John Smedley, but I remember thinking it was odd to have something still made in England, so I bought a merino jumper. It’s one of my favourite things, cool in the summer, warm in the winter; and always well fitting and comfortable.

As I was packing my clothes for a trip to Italy this summer I couldn’t decide whether to take any knitwear, but I packed the Smedley anyway. I didn’t take it from my bag until one night when I was asked to go and watch shooting stars from a friend’s vineyard. Sat there in the early hours of the morning, not too hot and not too cold, I was glad I hadn’t left my favourite jumper at home.
