Chris and Jonathan

My father spent his working life at Beale & Inman, a Mens Shirtmakers and Hosiers in New Bond Street, London. The shop was started in 1828 by Mr Beale and Mr Inman and remained in the same location up to 1980. They sold high quality clothing and in particular John Smedley garments.

I remember visiting the shop from a very young age and was always fascinated by a shadowy figure in one of the stock rooms, so when my father retired and asked if there was anything I wanted from the shop my choice was this figure dressed in hunting underwear. He still lives with us and is affectionatelly known as Jonathan by the family, and is seen here posing with my young son.
