Our March ‘10 winning story submitted by Donald Soutar, who won himself £225 worth of John Smedley gift vouchers:

When I moved to city to start art college it also gave me the opportunity to really find my own style. John Smedley instantly became an important part of that.
I loved the timeless, sophisticated look, especially the collared shirts: part modernist, part Goodfella, part 50s jazz-musician, part bygone Tour de France legend.
There have been a few heartbreaks along the way: the laundrette that wrecked the placket on a gorgeous camel coloured Dorset [which even then I kept for comfortable wear around the flat] and the yellow polo shirt, purchased in Liberty in London, that I wore as much as possible for one hot summer which I managed to lose before the next summer came around.

I’ve owned and cherished more garments made by John Smedley than any other company, and look forward to adding to my collection in the years to come. They look and feel as good on this married man and father as they did on that skinny art student.

Our January ‘10 winning story submitted by Alison Quinn, who won herself £225 worth of John Smedley gift vouchers:

It was 2002 the night of my birthday and I was out with my friends and my new Smedley Scarf. It was the softest most luxurious wool scarf I had ever worn and I felt very special wearing it on my birthday!

As we sat down for drinks I took off my coat and scarf but unfortunately they slid off the leather sofa onto the floor. As I went to pick them up, I was beaten to it by a handsome young man, who picked them up for me, we gazed into each others eyes for a second which felt like a hour and just connected and thanks to my Smedley Scarf we have been together ever since!

Our November ‘09 winning story submitted by Tony Osborne, who won himself £225 worth of John Smedley gift vouchers:

I play in the Beatles Tribute Band The Fab 4 from Nottingham and for 15 years we have been wearing our lovely black roll necks. We love them so much we buy them 8 at a time and they see us through all the seasons.

We’ve done outdoor gigs in the middle of winter and recently a gig in the height of summer in Spain and they’re comfortable in all weathers!

Keep rocking Smedley, and we’ll do the same!

Our September ‘09 winning story submitted by George Ryan, who won himself £225 worth of John Smedley gift vouchers:

Owning a barge on the canal at Kensal Green, I would have say the weirdest place I’ve been seen wearing my favourite long johns, of course by John Smedley, was whilst walking my dog down the canal early one morning only to be greeted by numerous dog walkers and joggers!

Strange looks I hear you think? Not half…who does that at 6am in the morning?!

Our July ‘09 winning story submitted by Simon Knock, who won himself £225 worth of John Smedley gift vouchers:

I’ve been a guitarist for twelve years now, I’ve played in various bands of different styles and genres. I’m currently a student at the University of Southampton studying music where I met my current band Indigo Sun. We play funk/soul/pop/reggae arrangements of existing tunes from artists such as John Mayer, Fat Freddies Drop, Tower Of Power, Stevie Wonder and dabble in some Flight of the Conchords.

I’ve been wearing Smedley for about 3 months now and it’s flippin’ brilliant. I wear my cardigan all the time and it has become a big part of my stage image. Over the summer I hope to be recording a demo with Indigo Sun’s singer and Smedley will play a big part in forthcoming gigs and appearances.
